AAPI Expands Its Global Impact Through Healthcare, Education and Community Service

The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), representing more than 120,000 Indian-origin physicians, medical students, residents and fellows in the United States, continues to expand its influence through healthcare innovation, global partnerships, education and community service.

According to AAPI, Indian-origin physicians provide medical care to an estimated 50 million Americans, treating approximately one in seven patients across the country.

Under the leadership of AAPI President Dr. Meher Medavaram and Board of Trustees Chair Dr. Vijay Maurya, the organization is focusing on unity, member participation and service to humanity.

Key initiatives include STEM programs encouraging young students to pursue careers in medicine and science, Global Health Summits promoting India-US healthcare collaboration, and Indo-US Scientific Conventions supporting medical research and knowledge exchange.

AAPI also promotes CPR training and emergency medical education to improve survival during cardiac emergencies. Its chapters across the United States regularly organize humanitarian activities, including food assistance, clothing drives and blanket donation programs.

The 2026 Global Health Summit in Bhubaneswar brought together medical experts from India and the United States to discuss AI in healthcare, women’s health, diabetes, tuberculosis and emergency medicine.

AAPI President Dr. Meher Medavaram also announced that the next Global Health Summit is planned for January 2027 in Hyderabad, continuing the organization’s efforts to strengthen healthcare collaboration between India and the United States.

Through these initiatives, AAPI continues to connect medical professionals, empower future generations and contribute to better healthcare and community welfare.
